Character Building…

Well… I’m still getting my head around how I do this blog thing…
It’s April the something and we’ve got past Easter the world is still in one piece for now and I am still on Holyday from my teaching job which will stop me from doing stuff like this… Lets see how that works out!
I’m doing some homework and writing/planning BL pt2 and suddenly had the need to generate a new character that the story gods decided had to exist… and low a behold the talking Badger Grévling Brok popped into being… Brok became necessary as I was developing the story it became clear Myrii needed an intermediary between the Magonians and her.

After a bit of doodling about I thought an animal character would be fun and can see where having a ‘Familiar’ for Myrii might really help with the narrative and just be loads of fun. I started from scratch and did consider some kind of cat but settled on a badger after thinking about an old supporting character that my old comics collaborator Andy Richmond created ‘Mr Brock’ who was a kind of guru and general beast of mystery encouraging the protagonists to ‘chew on this root… it will help’.

The Character takes shape… Brok needs a bit of strength and arrogance…

I’m pretty pleased how Brok has turned out… looking forward to incorporating them into the story going forward. It was fun finding the shapes for the ideas and thinking how far to take the anthropomorphism… Naming was fun as ‘Brock’ is old English for Badger and ‘Grevling’ is Norwegian for the same.

Well I’ll keep adding to my plans and keeping this updated… now I worked out how it works…Laters!
